ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is a technology that enables fast communication over copper telephone line to send and receive data at high speed. ADSL supports data rate from 256Kbps to 9Mbps when receiving data (downstream) and from 16Kbps to 640Kbps when sending data (upstream).
ADSL required a special ADSL modem. In order to connect to the Internet using ADSL, your telephone service must be linked to an ADSL-capable telephone exchange.
